‘CONSTANTLY WORKING OF 360 HOURS HUMAN BODY REQUIRES RELAXATION i.e. BODY SERVICING.’
What is meant by Body Servicing?
Giving rest to bodily organs (Stomach, Intestine, Liver, etc.) by not eating food for a day or two in a month in order to rejuvenate it and bring health, vigor and vibrance to the body has been termed as body servicing.
Why Body requires Servicing?
Body is like a machine- its bodily parts and organs work tirelessly day and night. Our external body parts get rest while we sleep, however our internal organs are working even at night to digest & processing of food. Like a machine requires servicing- washing, greasing, oiling etc. of its parts to increase efficiency and make it last longer, Similarly our inner organs also require purification and relaxation to make them work in a healthier way. The process of digestion leads to accumulation of acids and undigested food particles in the body. These need to be eliminated from time to time for healthy functioning & rejuvenation. The best & a free way to achieve this is ‘fasting’.
Scientifically speaking fasting atleast twice a month helps in proper cleansing of body.
When should Fasting be done ?
Fasting is a very integral part of many religions. Individual observe kinds of fast based on personal beliefs & customs. Traditionally, an important fasting day known as Ekadashi also is observed twice a month by many. Lord Narayan has granted the boon that anyone who fasts on Ekadashi will be free from sin & attain transcendental abode. Ekadashi falls on the 11th day of every lunar fortnight.
Food that can be consumed on Fast
Ekadashi Fasting generally means stay away from both food and drinks (other than water). Therefore we stay away from the toxins provided by regular food. It is believed that demon dwells in rice therefore rice should be strictly avoided. However in case of partial abstinence the food that can be consumed on this day includes fresh and dried fruits, sweet potato, potato, coconut, milk products and nuts. Also ‘farali food’ like ‘Moraiya’ etc can be eaten by those who cannot observe strict fast.
Not applicable for expectant mothers, old aged & sick persons.
